Because of My Foes

Because of My Foes

Psalm 5:8
O LORD,  lead me  in Thy righteousness  because of my foes;
Make Thy way straight  before me.

This needs to be our prayer  every day  of our lives.      We say we believe  in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior  —  whether we speak boldly  or shyly.      Everybody around us knows what we are.

But,  do they see it  in the way we live?      Do they know us as a Christian  who cheats and lies a bit  here and there?      Do they know us as a Christian  who lives a wild life style?      Do they see us always complaining,  hateful,  hurtful,  and using foul language?

Just what do they think of us?      Why?      Are they justified  in their conclusions  —  or are they wrongly accusing us  of all these sins  because of the evil  that is in their hearts?      If they are rightly making conclusions,  what are they thinking about our God  and Savior?      Haven’t  we defamed our Lord’s name?

We are always  on the witness stand  and the world’s jury  is constantly eyeing us,  looking for  and wondering about  our transgressions.

We need to stay  on the right track,  but cannot by ourselves.      All of God’s children need to daily pray,  “O LORD,  lead me  in Thy righteousness  because of my foes.”      Our heavenly Father wants  to hold our hand  and lead us  into right living,  so that our foes will see  how we are being led  by His power.      It is His love,  faithfulness,  and strength  that is to be glorified.

Sometimes  we just don’t understand  how God’s way is best for us  in the end,  so we need a clear mind  to understand  —  and the assurance  of how to rightly go forward  trusting.      So we won’t get mixed up  and stumble around,  we pray, “Make Thy way straight  before me.”      God will help us  to see and accept  the best way  according to His wisdom  as we trust in His word.

With God leading us,  we will be glad  both here  and in eternity.      With confidence we say,  “Hallelujah!      LORD,  throughout Your word,  You show us many examples  of how You have led Your children  down through the ages.      Thank You  for Your faithfulness  in leading us.      Help us  to always look to You  in all of our needs.”

Love,
Margaret
