He Does Not Learn
We come upon some very serious truths when we study all of God’s word in the Bible. Judgment is a very serious truth we all have to face. The prophet, Isaiah, talks about how the LORD will judge absolutely everyone in the end.
Those who love and trust in the LORD’s salvation through faith in Christ Jesus have the peace of knowing God’s righteousness. But, even though the wicked might know “about” God, they refuse to honor or respect God’s authority and wisdom. So, they just do whatever they want, whenever they want because they feel they have authority over their lives and will never have to face any sort of judgment because God either doesn’t exist — or doesn’t care.
That is why Isaiah 26:10 says about them,
Though the wicked is shown favor,
He does not learn righteousness;
He deals unjustly in the land of uprightness,
And does not perceive the majesty of the LORD.
These truths have been evident throughout history. There are wicked people who seem to be successful in everything they want to do. They are mean, nasty, and belligerent in everything they want to do. And, they seem to get away with it. Though they know “about” God, they couldn’t care less and refuse to “learn righteousness”. Many get to be leaders in the community and even in the government. But, their position of leadership only serves to make them more arrogant and defiant.
Because unbelievers are so spiritually stone dead, God’s word says they will be destroyed in the end. But those who believe and love the LORD will rise to eternal life. Those who gladly trust the LORD see the goodness of God’s power in creation and God’s love in His plan of salvation. That is why believers love to “learn righteousness” and want to become righteous to glorify God’s love and salvation in Christ Jesus.
So, what are we gladly learning as we study God’s word in the Bible? We are not to trust any man’s opinion, but need to “learn righteousness” through the Bible. People’s opinions tend to invent all sorts of new rules and regulations that are not in God’s word. We need to be intent on learning straight from our LORD — and He has promised to help us as we look for His leading.
As we see the wondrous love in all God’s ways, we say, “Hallelujah! LORD, Your every word leads us in learning Your righteousness! Blessed be Your Name!”
Love,
Margaret
