I Wait for the LORD

I Wait for the LORD
Our day-to-day lives are always concerned with time. There is a time to be at school, a time to be at work, a time to eat, a time to plant, a time to harvest, etc., etc., etc. Our whole lives are concerned with time. We get anxious over time, when we feel something or someone is late.
In all our anxieties, we need to trust the LORD. As much as we might sometimes wonder about the rightness of God’s timing, he is the One who is in control and His love and wisdom are so far above and beyond anything we are capable of.
The writer of Psalm 130 realized this in his anxiety, so in faith, he expressed his concerns to the LORD. And, in the very same breath, this psalmist remained very sure of the LORD’s “lovingkindness” and “redemption” at the right time. So, he sang,
Psalm 130:1-8
Out of the depths I have cried to You, O LORD.
Lord, hear my voice!
Let Your ears be attentive
To the voice of my supplications.
If You, LORD, should mark iniquities,
O Lord, who could stand?
But there is forgiveness with You,
That You may be feared.
I wait for the LORD, my soul does wait,
And in His word do I hope.
My soul waits for the Lord
More than the watchmen for the morning;
Indeed, more than the watchmen for the morning.
O Israel, hope in the LORD;
For with the LORD there is lovingkindness,
And with Him is abundant redemption.
And He will redeem Israel
From all his iniquities.
With the same faith and patience of this psalmist, let us wait for the LORD to perform His works of “lovingkindness” and “redemption”. We need to be aware that in certain circumstances there might be years of time in concern. But, it will all truly be for our good in the end. Therefore, we can say, “Hallelujah! LORD, Your love and almighty power are eternal. Blessed be Your redeeming love.”
Love,
Margaret
