In this world of sin,  we see all sorts of changes.     Promises are broken.     Leadership changes in the political realm and in other areas of life.     Laws are changed.     Styles of music change.     Styles of clothing change.     The list seems endless.

But, there is one thing that never changes.     It is the same today as it was on the day of creation.     Psalm 119:89-93 speaks of it.

Forever, O LORD,

            Your word is settled in heaven.

 Your faithfulness continues throughout all generations;

            You established the earth, and it stands.

 They stand this day according to Your ordinances,

            For all things are Your servants.

 If Your law had not been my delight,

            Then I would have perished in my affliction.

  I will never forget Your precepts,

            For by them You have revived me.

God’s “word” does not change.     God has made many promises and kept them all.     Very notable is the promise of a Savior  from all sin.     God remains LORD and God forever.     He always has been God Almighty and He always will be God Almighty.     He has no beginning or end.     God’s precepts and laws do not change.

Because the LORD and His “word”  do not change,  they are something we can truly depend upon.     We don’t have to be afraid that God might stop loving and caring for us.     We don’t have to worry about God changing his precepts for right living.     His righteousness will never change.     So, the psalmist gladly sang,  Forever, O LORD,  Your word is settled  in heaven.”

Since there are some religious leaders,  who practice  a distortion  of what God has settled “forever”  in His word,  people need to be assured  that we can and should  always go to God’s word  in the Bible  for the guidance  we need.     We should not allow false teachers  to push their falsehoods  on us.     We don’t have to be afraid of them  because God is the Almighty — not the false preachers.

Letting God’s word  become settled  in our hearts  and minds,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for faithfully keeping Your word  for us forever.”

Not that I have already obtained it, or have already become perfect, but I press on in order that
