Whoever Does the Will of God

Whoever Does the Will of God

There are people who regularly  go to church,  take part in church activities,  and may even serve as one of the church elders.     So, they consider themselves  to be true Christians.     Jesus qualified that idea  in Mark 3:31-35.

And His mother and His brothers arrived, and standing outside they sent word to Him,  and called Him.     And a multitude was sitting around Him,  and they said  to Him,  “Behold,  Your mother and Your brothers are outside  looking for You.”

And answering them,  He said,  “Who are My mother and My brothers?”

And looking about  on those who were sitting around Him,  He said,  “Behold,  My mother and My brothers!     For whoever does the will  of God,  he is My brother and sister and mother.”

So,  each of us needs  to ask ourselves  whether or not we really are a brother or sister  to Christ Jesus, our Lord.     Do we really take time every day  to sit down and pay full attention  to the word of God  in the Bible?     Do we care about learning God’s word  and living by it?     Do we  do the will  of God  in our daily lives  —  whatever our job might be  in this world?

Jesus said, “Whoever does the will of God,  he is My brother and sister and mother.”

Let us do “the will of God”  by actually listening  to what God wants to teach us  and then actually doing  what God’s word teaches.

No matter what our occupation  in this world, daily living according to God’s will  makes us a “brother and sister”  to our Lord.

It is a wondrous thing  that Jesus calls everyone  who listens  to God’s word  His “brother and sister”.     As we live  to show that truth,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You for teaching us Your word  and helping us  to see the depths  of Your love  for us.     Blessed be Your name.”

Love,
Margaret
