It Is Lovely

Sometimes people tend  to gloss over things,  not really thinking a whole lot about them  because they’re in a rush to do this  or that  or whatever.     But, when one stops  and smells the roses,  life becomes so much better.     When we take the time to appreciate  the beauty and goodness around us,  the whole day suddenly becomes much better.     The sweet aroma  of the roses  lingers with us all day.

That same delightfulness takes place when we consider  just who created those roses for us.     It was the LORD God Almighty,  who not only created the roses, but also everything else  in all of creation.     And, it all there  to bless us  with a good day.

That’s why Psalm 135:3 sings out,

Praise the LORD,  for the LORD is good;

Sing praises  to His name,  for it is lovely.

The Hebrew meaning  of the word lovely  includes the thoughts  of being pleasantdelightful,  sweet,  and agreeable.     And,  that is just what the LORD’s name is  to all those who love and appreciate  all that is good,  right,  and a blessing  to our lives here on earth.     We can’t ever list every blessing  that we’ve had.     But,  the absolute greatest blessing  we have  is the love  of God  in our Savior, Christ Jesus.     There is a love that just boggles the mind.

God’s humble, condescending love sought  to save us  from the awful consequences  of our sins,  so His sinless,  only begotten Son  suffered,  died  and rose again  to pay for our sins.     Now,  we are seen  as clean and holy  in God’s sight.     God has a most “lovely”  love  for us.     It’s incomprehensible.

Thinking  of the gut-wrenching love  God has for us,  is why Psalm 147:1 sings,

Praise the LORD!

For it is good  to sing praises  to our God;

For it is pleasant  and praise is becoming.

Rightfully singing praises  to God  for all He does for us  is “pleasant”  and  “becoming”  —  that says it makes us “lovely”,  pleasant,  delightful,  sweet,  and agreeable  in God’s eyes  because we are rightfully acknowledging His love for us.

Let us always remember to smell the roses  and praise our LORD and Savior  for His awesomely “lovely” love for us.     And so we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  blessed is Your name  for showing us Your love every day in so many ways.”

Love,
Margaret
