Without Talking, Without Words

November 7, 2019

Without Talking,   Without Words

When we don’t know how  to see and realize God  in our lives,  we become lost  in wanting to accomplish all things  by our own powers  and strengths  —  puny as they are.      God is here  —  right beside us  —  showing us  His almighty power,  love,  forgiveness,  mercy,  and salvation.      But,  we don’t notice  as we center only  on ourselves  and what we want  to do.      By ourselves  we are frustrated,  troubled,  worried,  and discouraged,  because  we are trusting  in ourselves.

King David had troubles galore,  but he knew how  to look to God  and remember  that it is the LORD,  who is in control  of all things  —  not us.      David rested  and meditated  on God’s almighty powers,  and was able  to keep his life  in the right perspective.       Remembering  our Lord’s magnificent works,  David wrote  in Psalm 19:1-4,

The heavens  are telling  how wonderful  God is,
and the sky  announces  what His hands  have made.
One day  tells the next  a lively story,
and one night  informs the next
without talking,  without words,
without a voice  that can be heard.
Yet  their sound goes out  all over the earth,
and  what they say  to the most distant parts  of the world.

Did you stop and listen?      What did God say?      Without talking,  without words,  without a voice that can be heard”      No matter where we live  —  “the most distant parts of the world”  —  God is everywhere  quietly telling us  —  shouting out to us  —  to trust  in Him  for all our needs.

In all of creation,  we see  how God quietly shouts  to us  the absolute glory  of His wisdom,  power,  and love.      The stars don’t need words  to tell how awesome  God is.      They are so majestic  as they make their rounds  in their orbits  and speak  of the LORD’s power  in keeping them  for thousands of years.

Because  God surely keeps  all the stars  that He created  —  will He not keep us?      The Savior  did not suffer and die  to save a star.      He suffered and died  to save sinful mankind.      With such a powerful love  waiting for us  to accept it  and live in it,  will we still  insist on doing things  for ourselves?      Will we still think  we know  what is best  because our  “wisdom and power”  are so  “great”?      Lord,  help us.

Seeing God’s power,  love,  and faithfulness  in every star,  flower,  rock,  and tiny bit of creation,  we say,   “Hallelujah!      Lord,  thank You  for speaking so loudly  to us  in the most gentle way.      Open our hearts and minds  to see and hear  how very near You are  every moment  of every minute.”
