Great Is Thy Faithfulness

Whenever we see an example  of true faithfulness  on this earth,  it tugs at our hearts  —  and even more so  —  God’s faithfulness and love towards us  should be tugging  at our hearts.      We need not be oblivious  to God’s longings  for us.      We stray often  from our Lord,  but He never leaves us.      Even though we are often unfaithful,  God faithfully  keeps a loving watch  over us.      In all of life’s troubles,  we need to take heart  at God’s faithfulness.

The Bible has many reminders  of God’s faithfulness  that are meant  to draw us near  to our Savior,  even though we have sinned.      Some verses we need to hold close  and treasure  include:

Lamentations 3:23
Great is Thy faithfulness.

1 Corinthians 1:9
God is faithful,  through whom  you were called  into fellowship  with His Son,  Jesus Christ our Lord.

1 Corinthians 10:13
God is faithful,  who will not allow you  to be tempted beyond  what you are able;  but with the temptation  will provide the way of escape also,  that you may be able  to endure it.

2 Thessalonians 3:3
But the Lord  is faithful  and He will strengthen  and protect you  from the evil one.

2 Timothy 2:13
If we are faithless,  He remains faithful;  for He cannot deny Himself.

1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins,  He is faithful and righteous  to forgive us  our sins  and to cleanse us  from all unrighteousness.

Psalm 91:4
He will cover you  with His pinions,
And under His wings  you may seek refuge;
His faithfulness  is a shield and bulwark.

Because God has proven to be eternally faithful,  we can confidently  turn to Him  in all of our needs.      In the same breath,  we need to keep a watchful eye  on our own faithfulness.      In other words,  are we loving God  as we know  He has first loved us  —  and continues to faithfully  love us?      ( 1 John 4:19 )

As Paul endured many trials  for Christ’s sake,  he remained faithful  to all of God’s truths  of salvation.      As he thought about God’s gift to us  in Jesus,  he encourages us  in 2 Corinthians 4:16-18,

Therefore   we do not lose heart,  but though our outer man  is decaying,  yet our inner man  is being renewed  day by day.

For momentary,  light affliction  is producing for us  an eternal weight  of glory  far beyond all comparison,  while we look not  at the things  which are seen,  but at the things  which are not seen;  for the things which are seen  are temporal,  but the things which are not seen  are eternal.

Our faithfulness and love  in return for God’s love and faithfulness  in Christ Jesus  will be more than satisfied  in all eternity.      Thankful  for our Savior’s faithfulness,  we say,  “Hallelujah!      Lord,  Your faithfulness  towards us  is great beyond description.      Help us  to faithfully keep turning  to You.”

Love,
Margaret
