Let the Mountains Sing Together for Joy

Let the Mountains Sing Together for Joy

Many people are fearful  regarding Judgment Day — and maybe rightly so.      They refuse to accept Jesus  as Lord and Savior over all,  but they are aware  of all the prophecies  regarding Judgment Day.      So,  there can be  quite a bit of apprehension.      What if Jesus really will come  and condemn them  for their unbelief  and stubborn rebellion.      They don’t want to think that their sins  could ever really condemn them — but,  what if?

There is no fear  for those who trust  in God’s love  in Christ Jesus.      We know  that whatever sorts of trials come,  we are eternally safe  through faith.      We may see  many testings  and be tested,  but our Savior has promised  to deliver us  through it all.      The psalmist talks about  God’s judgment  in a way  that brings comfort.      Psalm 98:7-9 reads,

Let the sea roar  and all it contains,
The world  and those  who dwell in it.
Let the rivers  clap their hands;
Let the mountains  sing together  for joy
Before the LORD;  for He is coming  to judge the earth;
He will judge  the world  with righteousness,
And the peoples  with equity.

All that is hateful  and evil  towards our Creator and Redeemer  will be judged eternally.      And when they are,  all God’s children  will finally have relief  from all the pressures  and trials  that sin has inflicted  upon this world.      When the LORD judges  with righteousness  and equity,  we will finally experience  the blessed fullness  of the peace,  joy,  and love  that we have longed for.

We have good reason  to joyfully look forward  to Jesus’ return.      Jesus has promised  in John 14:3,

And if I go  and prepare a place  for you,  I will come again,  and receive you  to Myself;  that where I am,  there you may be  also.

All who put their trust in Jesus  have Him always  by their side.      In Matthew 16:27,  Jesus said,

For the Son of Man  is going to come  in the glory  of His Father  with His angels;  and will then recompense  every man  according to his deeds.

We are all unworthy sinners — totally undeserving  of the glories  in heaven.      So,  what deeds  will Jesus judge us by?      Jesus tells us  in John 3:18,

He who believes  in Him  is not judged;  he who does not believe  has been judged already,  because he has not believed  in the name  of the only begotten  Son of God.

It is unbelief  that condemns people.      But,  those who turn to Jesus  and trust  in His promise to forgive  are counted as righteous — just because  of their faith.      There simply is no better gift  of love  than what Jesus gave  when He took all our sins  upon Himself.      Knowing we are so dearly loved,  we can have peace  regarding Judgment Day.

Looking for Jesus’ return,  we say,  “Hallelujah!      Come,  Lord Jesus.”

Love,
Margaret
