He Has Done All Things Well
When we look at all of God’s creation, we can certainly marvel and exclaim, “He has done all things well!“ If we examine something under a powerful microscope and see how it works ( and yet without a total understanding ), we can again exclaim, “He has done all things well!” Looking through a powerful telescope brings about the same awesome wonder about how the universe works. But, even there, no one honestly understands all the power working to hold things together. The words describe, but we can’t actually see the Power.
Although we can’t see the Power, the Power is obviously there.
The same sort of awe amazed the people who followed Jesus. Jesus had been miraculously healing. The people in Mark 7:37 said in utter astonishment,
He has done all things well; He makes even the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.
Jesus did all that to demonstrate to everyone that He had the power of God Almighty to do all things well. He calmed the storm, brought the boat to shore in a moment, cast out demons, raised the dead, and even provided the needed tax money in the mouth of a fish.
All of that proved beyond a doubt that Jesus was Immanuel, “God with us“. ( Matthew 1:23 ) But, those aren’t the only details we can look at. We can read through all of God’s word in the Bible and see how many prophecies were fulfilled to the smallest detail. Details like Jesus was born in Bethlehem, but came out of Egypt, and yet, was called a Nazarene. Even when Jesus was supposedly a tiny, helpless baby, things were happening exactly as foretold.
It’s hard to imagine all the power that went into King Herod’s jealous rage, and the flight to Egypt when Jesus was born. Who could have guessed all that God put into place to fulfill those prophecies? The fulfillment included having the Romans conquer all that part of the world and setting up a jealous Herod in that region. The fulfillment even had to include a fear in the hearts of Joseph and Mary, so that when they came back from their stay in Egypt, they were too afraid to stay in the area of Bethlehem. They settled in Nazareth.
When we consider all that happened throughout Jesus’ birth, life, suffering, death, and resurrection — and how it all was prophesied, we exclaim, “He has done all things well!“
Let us not overlook all the miracles that have taken place so that we might be saved by God’s grace through faith in that very Christ Jesus. Then, in awe, we say, “Hallelujah! LORD God Almighty, there is no doubt that You have, indeed, done all things well for our eternal salvation.”
Love,
Margaret
