Blessed Is the Nation Whose God Is the LORD
No matter what country one may live in these days, one can find Christians, atheists, cultists, and religions of all sorts. Some Christians get very concerned about the growth of the unbelieving populations and the small numbers of those honestly faithful to the Lord — not to mention all the corruption going on. But, as we rest in our Lord’s hands, we don’t have to be so disturbed, because Jesus has already told us in Matthew 24:9-14,
Then they will deliver you up to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations on account of My name. And at that time many will fall away and will betray one another and hate one another. And many false prophets will arise, and will mislead many. And because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end, it is he who shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world for a witness to all the nations, and then the end shall come.
What a message! It all plainly speaks for itself. In this tumult, along with cold, loveless hearts, we need to make sure that we “endure to the end” in God’s truths. We cannot believe for anyone else. And, we cannot expect to hang onto the coattails of someone else’s faith. We are the ones who need to “endure to the end” in God’s word, and stay close to the Lord in faith, hope, and love.
We need to realize that God is in total control. We don’t need to be in a frenzy over God’s word being fulfilled. God’s love will never fail us — no matter what sorts of trials we may have to endure. We just need to be faithful. Psalm 33:9-12 sings of God’s authoritative power in all these things,
For He spoke, and it was done;
He commanded, and it stood fast.
The LORD nullifies the counsel of the nations;
He frustrates the plans of the peoples.
The counsel of the LORD stands forever,
The plans of His heart from generation to generation.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD,
The people whom He has chosen for His own inheritance.
There is no other Lord or God. Only what God Almighty says will stand fast. For that reason, we can rest in the Lord. It’s as Romans 8:28 promises,
And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
Resting in all of God’s word to us, we say, “Hallelujah! Lord, Your word is proof that You keep all of Your promises to us. Thank You for leading us to understand the greatness of Your love in every situation.”
Love,
Margaret
