Who Has Directed the Spirit of the LORD?
Isaiah 40:13-14
Who has directed the Spirit of the LORD,
Or as His counselor has informed Him?
With whom did He consult and who gave Him understanding?
And who taught Him in the path of justice and taught Him knowledge,
And informed Him of the way of understanding?
People often question God’s wisdom. We think we know what we want, how we want it, and when we want it. But, no one has the wisdom of God Almighty. Nobody has the authority or knowledge to tell “the Spirit of the LORD” what to do. Not a one of us is able to counsel the LORD about even our very own circumstances. God knows more about what is going on around us and in us — along with our future — than we can ever comprehend. Our every thought and inclination are open to the LORD, so we can never con Him in anything.
Never ever has God needed to consult anyone for a better understanding of a situation. No one has ever taught Him anything. We pray to the Lord and tell Him about our problems, but He knew all about them long before. We aren’t telling Him anything new. Nevertheless, in His compassion, our Lord wants us to tell Him all, because it is a means of getting it off our minds. We need to share our thoughts with God.
When we tell Him all, let us trust His infinite wisdom, knowledge, and love. All things are possible with the LORD — and nothing is impossible. We can be assured that He will work all things for the good of those who love His name — even in the midst of great tribulations.
As we humbly acknowledge our Savior’s love, we say, “Hallelujah! Lord, all things are in Your merciful hands, help our lives to glorify Your saving love.”
Love,
Margaret
