Rejoice and Be Glad

Rejoice and Be Glad
Even when he was in deep, deep trouble, King David would look to God for help and be glad that the LORD alone is the God of our salvation. In one of those troubling times, when he really needed help, David wrote in Psalm 70:4,
Let all who seek Thee rejoice and be glad in Thee;
And let those who love Thy salvation say continually,
“Let God be magnified.”
This verse shows us some very important things about God and our faith in the LORD. These words of David are directed to God. David is specifically asking God Almighty to work in the hearts of all those who are seeking Him. David wants God to help His children to “rejoice and be glad” in Him.
Even though we pray to God and look to Him for answers to our problems, so often we are so down-hearted that we don’t “rejoice and be glad” in the love of God for us. But, it is important that we always acknowledge God’s real love for us, His absolute righteousness, His wisdom in all matters, and His faithfulness in caring for us.
We might “love” the truths of God’s salvation, but we shouldn’t keep that to ourselves, in the fear that God won’t answer our prayers the way we want them answered. We need to be thanking God ahead of time for His love and wisdom in everything that concerns us. In the midst of all our faith challenges, we need to be always saying, “Let God be magnified.”
When we continually confess that ahead of time, we are humbly acknowledging that we don’t really know the best way our prayers should be answered. But, we are surely glad that God always knows what is best for us in the long run. Not only that, we are sure that God’s love will bless us and lead us to eternal life. After all, that is ultimately what is the best of the best. And, Jesus did tell us that our lives would be filled with trials and tribulations, so we shouldn’t be surprised or feel like we’re being picked on for more troubles than the average bear.
In our prayers, let us always “rejoice and be glad“ as we continually say, “Let God be magnified.”
As we pray and remember God’s saving love in Christ Jesus, we say, “Hallelujah! Lord, Your love and wisdom are so far beyond our understanding, but Your righteousness and faithfulness in Jesus Christ give us the sure hope of our salvation.”
Love,
Margaret
